3 Indian students killed in Canada, Delhi issues alert
New Delhi- India has expressed concern to the leadership of that country over the killing of three Indian students in Canada last week. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this today. Calling this incident an 'unfortunate tragedy', he condoled the bereaved family. He said, “This tragic incident has shaken Indians living in Canada. Our High Commission is helping as much as it can."
Jaiswal said, “We have issued guidelines for Indian citizens and students living in Canada to exercise extreme caution. The security system in that country is getting worse and crime is increasing. Keep your eyes and ears open.”
In addition, India-Canada bilateral relations are heating up again over visas. Sikh Canadians are required to state in writing on their visa form at the Indian Consulate in Vancouver, Canada that they do not support the pro-Khalistan movement. After this, Canadian pro-Khalistan leader Bikramjit Singh threatened to close all Indian consulates and embassies in Canada if Delhi did not grant tourist visas to Sikhs living in Canada.
Meanwhile, the Canadian media has published a report claiming that India is not giving visas to Canadian citizens and pro-Khalistan. The government of India's clear statement on this is that India's sovereignty is being interfered with through such comments. Regarding this, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Randhir Jaiswal said, 'This is another sign of how the Canadian media spreads fake news to defame India. It is our sovereign right to issue Indian visas. If someone is denied a visa, we will have specific reasons and justifications. If someone does not recognize the sovereignty of our country, we can refuse his visa application.
