Aligarh Muslim University Took Historic Holi Decision

Uttar Pradesh - Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has made history by granting permission for Holi celebrations at its Non-Residential Students’ Centre (NRSC) Hall for the first time. The decision signifies a step toward greater cultural inclusivity in an institution that has often been at the center of religious identity debates.  

AMU’s move to allow Holi aligns with the spirit of secularism and unity, reinforcing that educational institutions should serve as platforms for cultural integration. While the university has always upheld minority rights, this step acknowledges the diverse student body and their right to celebrate different festivals.  

Critics argue that the move might dilute AMU’s traditional identity, but such inclusivity should be welcomed rather than resisted. India’s strength lies in its diversity, and AMU’s decision fosters interfaith harmony, setting an example for other institutions. It is time to embrace cultural pluralism rather than restrict it.
