Bangladesh Launches Bold Operation Devil Hunt Amid Political Unrest

Dhaka - In a decisive move to restore order, Bangladesh's interim government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, has launched "Operation Devil Hunt," arresting over 1,300 individuals nationwide. The majority of those detained are reportedly affiliated with the Awami League, the party of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The operation was initiated following violent incidents in Gazipur, where student activists clashed with locals during protests against the former regime. The unrest escalated when protesters attacked the residence of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, leading to injuries among both students and locals.

Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasized that the crackdown targets those attempting to destabilize the country, stating, "None involved in the attack on the student-people will be spared."

While the government's actions aim to restore law and order, they have sparked debates about political motivations. Critics argue that the operation disproportionately targets Awami League supporters, raising concerns about potential political bias.
