Clashes Erupt Over Waqf Land Dispute in Etah, Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh - Violence broke out in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, following a dispute over land claimed as Waqf property near a local dargah. The altercation occurred when a group opposed construction on the site, alleging it encroached on ‘Waqf land’. Tensions escalated into stone-pelting and vandalism, leaving multiple people injured.
On Sunday the deadliest violence erupted in Sambhal. The next day, news of violence again came from Etah in Uttar Pradesh. It is known that tension has spread around the property of the Waqf Board. Authorities have arrested two individuals and filed charges against 16 named suspects and around 150 unidentified people. The area remains tense, with heavy police deployment to restore order and investigate the claims.
The incident took place on Sunday evening in Jalesar town and left several people injured.
The clash occurred when individuals, allegedly led by accused Rafiq, attempted to stop construction in front of a dargah which is owned by Anil Kumar Upadhyay and others. Then, a group of people came and claimed that the land belonged to the Waqf Board. As a result, a group of people protested the construction work there. After that, tension spread in the area.
It is also reported that several people in the area have been injured due to this tension. A lot of property is said to have been destroyed in the area. Meanwhile, according to the news, 2 people have already been arrested around this tension.
