Former Union Minister and Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna passed away
Karnataka- SM Krishna breathed his last. The former foreign minister passed away at his home in the early hours of Tuesday. He was also the former Chief Minister of Karnataka. Bengaluru emerged on the world map as India's 'Silicon Valley' during Krishna's tenure. He was 92 years old at the time of his death. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed grief over the death of his predecessor.
It is known that the former Chief Minister of Karnataka was ill for quite some time. He breathed his last at his home in Bengaluru at around 3:30 am on Tuesday. Krishna spent most of his political career in the Congress but eventually joined the BJP. The political circles of South India are saddened by his death. From Siddaramaiah to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, everyone has condoled Krishna's death.
In 1962, SM Krishna made his debut in politics. As Praja Socialist Party candidate, he defeated the Congress candidate in the Karnataka assembly elections. After 6 years, he won the by-election and became an MP. In 1972, he again contested the Karnataka elections, but on a Congress ticket. In 1999, Haat Shibir won the Karnataka assembly elections under the leadership of Krishna. Krishna became the Chief Minister.
Bangalore became known on the world stage during his tenure. Information technology companies made great progress during this period. Since Krishna's time, Bangalore gradually became the 'Silicon Valley' of India. He became the Governor of Maharashtra in 2004 after his tenure as Chief Minister of Karnataka ended. In 2009, SM Krishna also became the foreign minister. However, Krishna joined the BJP in 2017 after severing his 50-year relationship with the Congress. He retired from politics in January last year. He breathed his last at his home on Tuesday.
