India Expresses Concern Over Gaza Crisis Calls for Humanitarian Aid
India on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in Gaza and urged for the continued supply of humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected Palestinian territory. The statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) comes in the wake of renewed Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on Tuesday, reigniting uncertainty over the fragile ceasefire agreement that had been brokered between Israel and Hamas in January.
The latest airstrikes have resulted in significant casualties, with the Hamas-run health ministry reporting that over 400 people have been killed. The renewed violence has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the region, prompting calls from the international community for restraint and de-escalation.
"We are concerned at the situation in Gaza. It is important that all hostages are released," the MEA said in an official statement. "We also call for the supply of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza to be sustained," it added, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to provide aid to those affected by the ongoing conflict.
India has consistently maintained a balanced stance on the Israel-Palestine issue, advocating for dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes while supporting humanitarian efforts. New Delhi has previously sent humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and food, to Gaza in response to the worsening conditions in the region.
The resumption of airstrikes has cast doubt over the ceasefire agreement, which had temporarily halted months of intense hostilities. The conflict has drawn international attention, with calls from various countries urging both sides to engage in negotiations and prevent further loss of life.
As the situation in Gaza remains volatile, India continues to stress the importance of de-escalation, the protection of civilian lives, and the urgent need for humanitarian relief to support the affected population.
