Indian Celestial Century: ISRO 100th Launch Propels Nation into Navigation Supremacy

Bengaluru - India marked a historic milestone as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the advanced navigation satellite NVS-02 into orbit. This achievement not only showcases India’s growing dominance in space technology but also strengthens its self-reliance in satellite-based navigation.  

The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)-F15 lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 6:23 a.m., flawlessly deploying the NVS-02 satellite into its designated geosynchronous transfer orbit. This launch cements ISRO’s reputation for precision and technological prowess.  

NVS-02 is a vital addition to the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC), an indigenous system designed to provide accurate positioning services across India and its surrounding region. By enhancing NavIC’s accuracy and reliability, this satellite will support applications such as terrestrial and aerial navigation, disaster management, vehicle tracking, and mapping. The move aligns with India's broader vision of reducing reliance on foreign navigation systems.  

Beyond technological advancement, this mission carries symbolic significance—it is ISRO’s 100th successful launch from Sriharikota. This milestone underscores India's consistent progress in space exploration, reaffirming its place among global space leaders.
