Iran Rejects Assassination Allegations Against Trump: A Defiant Denial

Tehran - In an emphatic statement, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly rejected allegations that Iran was involved in plotting to assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking publicly for the first time since the claims surfaced, Pezeshkian declared that there was no truth to the accusations, asserting that "none whatsoever" was part of Iran's strategy. His comments come amid rising tensions between Iran and the U.S. over security concerns.

Context of the Allegations

These claims were initially raised by the U.S. Department of Justice in November 2024, alleging that an Iranian individual, backed by the Revolutionary Guard Corps, had planned to kill Trump. U.S. authorities claimed the plot was thwarted before any action could be taken, citing national security threats. Despite these charges, Iran has firmly dismissed the accusations, with Pezeshkian underscoring that such actions are not part of their approach to handling conflicts.

Legal Pursuit Over Military Action

The Iranian president also discussed the death of General Qassem Soleimani, killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike, which remains a point of contention. Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s stance of pursuing legal action against Trump, emphasizing that the killing of Soleimani was a violation of international law. He suggested that the assassination of Soleimani should be addressed through legal channels, not through further conflict.
