Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Spirituality Meets Economic Transformation

Uttar Pradesh - The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj is set to be an extraordinary convergence of faith and commerce. With an estimated 400 million visitors over 45 days, this grand event is projected to generate an economic boost of up to ₹2 lakh crore, making it one of the largest revenue-generating cultural festivals in the world.  

Sectors Driving Economic Growth

Multiple sectors are expected to benefit from this colossal event. Food and beverage sales, including snacks, water, and meals, could contribute ₹20,000 crore. Religious items such as oil lamps, idols, and spiritual books may add another ₹20,000 crore. Transportation and logistics services are anticipated to bring in ₹10,000 crore, while tourism packages and guide services might generate an additional ₹10,000 crore. Even temporary healthcare services and Ayurvedic products are expected to earn around ₹3,000 crore.  

Infrastructure and Job Creation

The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated ₹6,382 crore to develop infrastructure, surpassing the ₹3,700 crore spent on the 2019 Kumbh Mela. Preparations include constructing flyovers, widening roads, and setting up a temporary city with advanced facilities. Additionally, over 600,000 jobs are expected to be created, providing a boost to local employment.
