Preity Zinta Slams Congress Kerala Over Fake Loan Allegations Amidst Social Media Backlash

Mumbai - Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has recently been embroiled in a political controversy following allegations from the Kerala unit of the Indian National Congress. The party's official account on X (formerly Twitter) accused Zinta of having an ₹18 crore loan "written off," purportedly leading to a bank's collapse. They also insinuated that she had ceded control of her social media accounts to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in exchange for these financial favors.  

In a robust rebuttal, Zinta took to social media to denounce these claims as "fake news and vile gossip." She clarified that she personally manages her social media profiles and emphasized that no loans were forgiven on her behalf, noting that a loan she took over a decade ago was fully repaid. Expressing her dismay, she questioned the Congress party's motives in propagating such unfounded allegations.  

This incident comes on the heels of Zinta's recent remarks about the pervasive cynicism on social media. She lamented that expressing appreciation for the Prime Minister labels one as a "bhakt," and taking pride in being a Hindu or Indian results in being termed an "andh bhakt" (blind follower). Zinta urged for genuine interactions, stating, "Let's keep it real folks and take people for who they are & not who we think they should be!"  

This sequence of events underscores the challenges public figures face in the digital age, where misinformation can rapidly tarnish reputations. Zinta's proactive stance against both political defamation and online trolling highlights the necessity for responsible communication and the verification of facts before dissemination.
