Priyanka Gandhi Takes Oath as Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad

New Delhi - On November 28, 2024, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra officially entered Parliament as she took her oath as the Lok Sabha member representing Wayanad, Kerala. This marks a significant milestone in her political journey, especially after her decisive victory in the by-election for the seat, previously held by her brother, Rahul Gandhi. Her swearing-in ceremony, conducted in the presence of senior Congress leaders and supporters, symbolized a renewed push for the Congress Party in national politics.

Priyanka Gandhi, holding the Constitution during her oath, emphasized her commitment to democratic principles and public service. Her victory in Wayanad is seen as a morale booster for the Congress party, which is working to regain its footing in Indian politics. The seat had become vacant after Rahul Gandhi chose to focus on his leadership role within the party.
Although she has been in politics directly or indirectly for almost 2 decades, this is the first time that Priyanka has directly entered into vote politics. He contested for the Lok Sabha from a seat in Kerala vacated by his grandfather Rahul Gandhi. Needless to say, the people of Wayanad gave a lot of love to Priyanka. In the first election, she crossed the victory margin of brother Rahul. Rahul Gandhi won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad by more than 3 lakh 64 thousand votes. Priyanka won there by more than 4 lakh votes. Perhaps to honor this support of the people of Kerala, Priyanka took the oath wearing Kerala's famous Kerala cotton saree. This saree is known as the Kasavu saree.

During the oath ceremony, Priyanka had the ‘Red Book' of the Constitution in her hand. Similarly, Rahul Gandhi took the oath of office as MP with the Red Book of the Constitution in his hand. The slogan 'Save the Constitution' brought success in the Lok Sabha. Since the Lok Sabha election campaign, Rahul Gandhi has addressed the ‘Red Book’ of the Constitution in almost every meeting. This time Priyanka also decided to follow that tradition.

However, after Priyanka's oath ceremony, the Parliament session was adjourned. Like the last two days, there is a stir in the opposition camp on the issue of Adani. Ultimately both houses of Parliament had to be adjourned.
