Till Death Do Us Part: Nagpur Couple's Tragic Anniversary Pact

Maharashtra - In a seemingly joyful celebration, Jeril Damson Oscar Moncriff, 57, and his wife Anne, 46, marked their 26th wedding anniversary surrounded by friends and family. They hosted a midnight gathering at their Martin Nagar home, cutting a cake and enjoying the festivities. Beneath the surface, however, they were grappling with despair that no one could see.  

The Final Act in Wedding Attire

Hours after the celebration ended, the couple made a chilling decision. They dressed in their original wedding clothes, symbolizing the love they shared for over two decades. Anne's body was discovered on the bed, adorned with flowers and covered in a white cloth, while Jeril was found hanging in the kitchen. Evidence suggests Jeril arranged Anne’s body before taking his own life.  

Farewell Messages to the World

The couple left behind a video message and two handwritten suicide notes, which they shared on social media. In these messages, Anne bid an emotional goodbye to family and requested them to look after their relatives' children. Their informal will, written on stamp paper, instructed a smooth distribution of their properties and emphasized that no one was to blame for their decision.  

A Life of Struggles Behind Closed Doors

Jeril, once a talented chef at top hotels, had left his job during the COVID-19 pandemic and never returned to the profession. Anne, a homemaker, stood by his side through their challenges. While the couple didn’t specify the reasons for their actions, financial difficulties and personal struggles are believed to have played a significant role.
