Uttar Pradesh Declares Kumbh Mela Region as a New District: A Landmark Move
Uttar Pradesh- The Uttar Pradesh government declared the Kumbh Mela region a new district. The name of the new district will be Maha Kumbh Mela. Kumbh Mela will be organized in Prayagraj in January next year. Before that, the government issued guidelines on Sunday and announced the creation of new districts. According to the guidelines, a new district is being formed with the fair area to organize Kumbh Mela in 2025. The administration said that this district has been formed for the proper organization of Kumbh Mela. However, it is not clear whether it is a permanent district or a temporary administrative settlement for organizing the Kumbh Mela. According to a section of the media, this is a temporary district. However, there is no mention of this in the government guidelines.
However, as per the guidelines, the Mela officers will handle duties as District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, and Executive Officer (Executive Magistrate) in the new district. According to the Uttar Pradesh Prayagraj Mela Council Act, 2017, a fair officer is an officer appointed by the State Government. He manages all the activities of the fair under the supervision of the administration.
After the formation of Mahakumbh Mela districts, the number of districts in Uttar Pradesh increased to 76. The district consists of 67 villages in four subdivisions (tehsils) of Prayagraj. As per government guidelines, 25 villages of the Sadar subdivision, three villages of Sorano subdivision, 20 villages of Phulpur subdivision, and 19 villages of the Karachna subdivision will be included in the new district. Prayagraj District Magistrate Rabindra Kumar Mandar issued a directive and said this on Sunday.
Mahakumbh Mela is organized in Prayagraj every 12 years. The fair will run from January 13 to February 26 next year. The activities of the Uttar Pradesh Police for Kumbh Mela have already started. More emphasis is being placed on security measures. The police plan to conduct surveillance through drones at all times. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit Prayagraj in mid-December to inspect the preparations for the fair.
